The day your child is born is extraordinary.
It will be full of beautiful moments and every emotion imaginable. Hiring a professional birth photographer ensures that the details, big and small, will be preserved forever.
What is birth photography?
Simply put, birth photography is the documentation of labor, birth, and the initial postpartum period.
Birth photography is capturing the strength of a mother, the support from those she surrounds herself with, the smile when she finally meets her baby, the pure joy on her partner’s face, proud siblings, excited grandparents, adorable babies, and so much more.
What types of births do you attend?
I believe all births are filled with moments that are worth remembering. I proudly serve families throughout the Tri-Parish (Houma-Thibodaux-Raceland-Morgan City, etc.) area, hospital, birth center or home.
When do you arrive?
I stay in communication with you and your labor support team to help determine the best time for me to arrive. My goal is to join you during active labor, ideally when you are approximately 6-7 centimeters dilated. Not having cervical checks, no problem, we can use the intensity and pattern of your contractions to help gauge the right time for me to come.
What if I’m having a C-Section?
Belly births are beautiful. And great news, some area hospitals are happy to welcome professional birth photographers into the OR and Thibodaux Regional Medical Center is one of them!
How long do you stay after the birth?
Approximately 1-2 hours. I want to capture those precious first moments which often include lots of baby snuggles, the newborn exam, and family introductions.
What if you miss the birth?
To ensure I am available for your birth, I only accept a very limited number of clients each month & only one (1) of those is a birth client. In the unlikely event I am unable to attend your birth, other options will be discussed prior to your booking.
Do you use flash?
I utilize whatever light sources are needed to obtain quality images. With your permission, I may open curtains or adjust available lights. If I do utilize flash it is very discreet, most laboring moms don't even notice it.
Do you share on social media?
I love sharing birth stories, but I happily honor requests for privacy as well. This will be discussed with you in our booking process & is entirely up to you. Privacy is important to us and your portraits will never be shared unless you allow us to do so.
